From Teacher Appreciation Day to National Donut Day, there is every holiday imaginable but one day hangs above the rest when it comes to relaxation. Today, July 22nd, is National Hammock Day. A day to take a break, slow down, and take a step back to admire the beautiful things all from the comforts of a hammock.

What is the origin of such a day, you ask? The origins are unclear but the creation of the hammock is known. Hammocks were originally fashioned by Central and South American natives for sleeping and were woven from bark of the “hamack” tree. Much later the bark was replaced by other materials. Now, hammocks are used around the world for relaxation and lounging.

National Hammock Day is known as a day of no work. Some of us are not so lucky. If you happen to be one of the chosen ones, lay back and enjoy the simplicity and calm of hammock lounging. For the rest of us there is this:
